Le Marmiton Cooking School at La Mirande

One of the finest cooking schools in France. Hosted at the finest hotel in Avignon, in my opinion, and taught by a variety of chefs from around Provençe and France. Call us for our verbal description and a pamphlet.

These cooking classes are possible for you to take during the 5 "free" days during which you do not take a Day Trip, and during which you take walking visits of the museums, palace, and gardens of Avignon on your own.

The Mirande, a 4-star luxury hotel, is only a short walk (5 min) from your apartment at the Parish House. Hint: the rooms at La Mirande are about $300 per night. It possesses great ambiance, with a luxurious 19th century Provençal kitchen, in which not more than 12 student-chefs sit around a large table,in front of the original wood-fired, cast-iron oven of the kitchen, where they are lectured by the best chefs in the area. You may attend 1 to 4 of the morning classes (9:30am-1pm), an evening class (6pm), and some pastry sessions from 3:30-6:30pm.

The chefs include Daniel Hébet (La Mirande), an innovative and talented young chef, Robert Reynolds (US), Christian Etienne, popular, funny with his own restaurant in Avignon, Jean-André Charial from the very famous Ousteau de Baumaniére (les Baux), Robert Brunel, and Jean-Claude Aubertin, whose restaurant in Villeneuve is renown in gastronomical circles, among others. Among some of the recurring themes are "The Magic of Truffles" and "The Egg in all its Forms". Evening classes on Fridays are set aside to cook a full dinner to which you can invite friends to partake of your "chef d'oeuvre", be it fish, lobster, duck, game, or lamb.

The price ranges from 400-600F for one class to 2600F for all 5 classes, in a selected week during each month from February-June & September-December.

A real treat, very high class, and highly recommended, call us.
